The quiet moments between the big ones are often what people remember most. I’ve had couples come back years later saying their favourite shot was something from preparation, or a stolen glance between vows, something they barely registered on the day itself. The challenge is training yourself to keep watching during transitions. Staying alert for the ceremony and speeches comes naturally, but those ten minutes while the wedding party moves between venues, or the moment a parent takes a deep breath in the corner of the room, that’s where the real material often is.
We shoot a lot of events and weddings at LemonLens, and making ourselves slow down and actively look sideways during downtime is something we still have to remind each other to do.
