Is anyone else wondering where the year has gone? We’ve made it halfway through 2023 and seen dozens of inspiring images. Our June pics add memorable moments of jubilation, quiet portraiture, and adventurous action shots to our 2023 collection.
This time, we spoke with three of the 19 featured photographers about their June 2023 Top Pics. Each photographer shared insights about the gear they used and the story behind their epic captures. We’re especially excited to learn that motion blur photos seem to be a technique here to stay. Numinous House Studio shared that their couples love the creative aesthetic just as much as we do.

June 2023’s Top Pics
A Moment for Motion Blur
This photo was shot at the beautiful venue of Kay and Monty in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. We used a Canon R6 with a Sigma 35mm F1.4 lens.
Believe it or not, our go-to lens is the old trusty steed–the Canon Nifty Fifty. I will love this lens ‘til the day I die. This lens proves you don’t need the best and most expensive gear to make beautiful images. It’s not what you have but how you use it.
We love blurred moments and have started incorporating a lot more of them into our wedding photography over the past year. Our couples adore these kinds of shots, and frequently request them. A good-quality blurred photo can evoke feelings of nostalgia. We always pair it with a moody preset to help elevate the image to a whole new level. We encourage anyone who wants to explore this unique side of photography to find a good focal point and just go for it! – From Christina & Aquila of Numinous House Media
An Editorial Shot in NYC
This photo was taken in New York City at the public library. I shot with a Canon R5 and surprisingly used the EF 35mm lens. It looks wide because of my position at the base of the steps. I wanted to capture just how grand the architecture was, so I placed my model where I did to focus on scaling.
We tried to get to the library early before all the crowds gathered. We were lucky to have a little window of time, and once people realized we were shooting, they allowed us some space (which I’m extremely grateful for.) – From Emmylou Kelly of Emmy Shoots
A Quiet Wedding Day Portrait
I took this photo on the Fujifilm X-T5 using the Fujinon XF 16mm F1.4 lens. This wedding was pretty eclectic (as you can probably tell from the groom’s hand-woven decorative suit.) The couple split their wedding across two days, having a family day and a friends day. We went for a morning shoot before the ceremony on family day and got this shot at The Pig on the Beach, a hotel in Studland, Dorset, UK where the couple got ready and stayed before and after their wedding.
The wedding celebration was just down the road in Poole, but this was a better location to get photos of the couple together. It was nice for them to get a moment of quiet before everything became hectic. – From Stuart Dudleston
