Can you believe it’s already August? The year is going by in a flash, and summer weddings are drawing to a close. But we don’t expect creative wedding images to stop pouring in anytime soon. The Top Pics August 2022 roundup features a wide variety of moments, from a bride getting dressed alongside her loved ones to newlyweds joyously exiting their wedding in a Fiat. No matter the moment, each photo showcases a clear perspective, technical skill, and heartwarming emotion.
While scrolling, don’t miss the touching image of a groom overcome by tears during the first look with the bride. On the other end of the emotional spectrum, we have a fun shot of guests singing passionately on the dance floor (we’re guessing it’s Queen–what’s your guess?) And lastly, sure to be a crowd favorite, an engagement shoot starring one majorly handsome miniature dachshund. We hope you enjoy every photo below and get a perfect dose of inspiration for your next wedding or couple session.
An Unexpectedly Foggy Elopement
I took this photo after an elopement ceremony on Conor Pass, one of the most scenic drives in Ireland. The couple traveled from the US and we expected a sunny, mid-June day. But “fortunately,” the weather was super foggy and wet. I captured the photos with a Nikon Z6 camera and a 35mm lens.
Film-Inspired Wedding Coverage
To achieve this film-like look, I utilized a combination of finger smudges and blowing directly onto the lens (you know, like when you want to clean it, just minus the cleaning part). After that I applied pretty heavy grain to the photos in Lightroom (amount/size/roughness were all about 50.) The bride and groom’s outfits really helped, too, as their wedding was vintage-themed.
