From the leaves changing colors to the temperatures cooling down, there’s something about fall that makes it oh-so-romantic. So, it’s no wonder that many couples choose to say “I do” during the season. With the unpredictable weather, deciding what to wear to autumn weddings can be complicated. To ensure that you still look professional and cozy, we’re rounding up some of our favorite fall outfit ideas for wedding photographers. Hint–think plenty of layers that you can take off or add on.
Long Sleeve Tees
Chances are you’re going to want a pretty thin base layer that won’t make you sweat while also allowing you to layer with a thicker jacket or sweater if needed. No matter what cut you go for–whether you love crew necks or turtlenecks–opting for a neutral color will help you blend into the background, so you don’t distract from the wedding.

Breathable Pants
While it may be tempting to throw on your favorite pair of jeans, you’ll want to be comfortable moving around for hours. You’ll also most likely want something with a little more breathability to help prevent from overheating in case it’s a warmer evening. We enjoy joggers or slacks that offer a little more wiggle room. They also provide the flexibility to bend and stretch when you need to get the perfect shot.

Dresses
If the wedding you are photographing is a bit more formal and you want to dress up a bit, choose a dress that is not going to be too short while bending down. To ensure that you’re truly covered, you can also throw on a pair of tights underneath. This will keep you from flashing guests and keep you toasty in chillier temps. If dresses aren’t your thing, rock a killer jumpsuit!

Jackets
Unlike winter weddings, the jacket you wear in the fall doesn’t have to be big and bulky. Since it’s unlikely that you’ll be shooting in frigid temperatures in the fall, you can bring something a little lighter that will still keep you comfortable without making you too hot. Think denim, blazers, or a light peacoat.

Shoes
The shoes that you wear are arguably the most important aspect of your fall outfit. Being on your feet for 10+ hours means that you will want something that is comfortable and going to leave you blister-free by the end of the night. We’re big fans of booties because they keep your feet warm while also allowing you to look put together. Just be sure that you break them in before the wedding if they have a heel.
